David Ornstein has provided a new update on Kai Havertz’s injury

Arsenal fans were given an unwanted scare on Thursday night.
Kai Havertz was forced off in the first half of Germany’s 1-1 Nations League draw against the Netherlands in Amsterdam, pulling up with a suspected hamstring injury. Jurgen Klopp confirmed after the game that Havertz would likely miss the rest of the international break.
Havertz was due to feature against Christos Tzolis and Greece on Sunday, but has now left Germany’s camp and returned to London Colney, where he is set to undergo a scan. David Ornstein has now provided a fresh update on the severity of the injury, and it offers some cautious encouragement.
There is ‘optimism’ that Kai Havertz’s injury is not serious
The Athletic journalist reports that there is optimism within the camp that the suspected hamstring injury is not serious.
That’s not exactly a clean bill of health, and Arsenal won’t know the full picture until the scan results are in. But given the nature of hamstring injuries — Havertz himself missed three months of action when he suffered a tear in 2024-25 — any early optimism is welcome news.
Havertz has been one of Arsenal’s most important players this season, starting all five Premier League goals and scoring twice. Losing him for an extended period would be a significant blow, particularly after the club failed to sign a marquee attacker in the summer.
If he is ruled out for Arsenal’s return to action against Leeds on 10 October, Mikel Arteta has a difficult decision to make. He will be hoping the out-of-form Viktor Gyokeres can gain some confidence during the international break with Sweden and come back firing.
If not, he may have to lean on the most clutch player at the club and revert to playing Mikel Merino as a centre-forward.
