Report: Arsenal finalising deal for club-record Martinelli sale

Arsenal are reportedly close to sealing a club-record sale for Gabriel Martinelli with Saudi Premier League side Al-Hilal.

According to David Ornstein in The Athletic (£), the clubs have a fixed €70million (£60m) agreement in place with Martinelli expected to sign a four-year deal in the coming days.

The 25-year-old will travel for the move early next week and – when finalised – will become Arsenal’s new record sale. The current record still belongs to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who joined Liverpool in 2017 for £35m.

Martinelli has been a key part of the title-winning journey under Mikel Arteta but found himself left out of the matchday squad for their opening two games of the season, amid ongoing speculation around his future and earlier interest from Galatasaray.

The Brazilian (and his camp) informed Arsenal they would not be entertaining any proposals from Turkey, but will now be playing his football in Saudi after seven successful years in North London.

Martinelli joined the club from Brazilian side Ituano in 2019 and has made 278 senior appearances, scoring 62 goals.
