Mikel Arteta just told Arsenal fans what they were waiting to hear about Myles Lewis-Skelly

Myles Lewis-Skelly has only ever known Arsenal, and he's not going to know any other club this season. That is according to Mikel Arteta, who has told Arsenal fans that Lewis-Skelly is going nowhere this window.

When asked whether Lewis-Skelly will be an Arsenal player this season, Arteta responded in a completely bulletproof way: "100 per cent," is what he said.

Read between the lines all you want; everybody is getting the same message. He's not going to Chelsea; he's not going to Man United; he's staying at Arsenal. Where he belongs, and where he is happy.

A Premier League champion now, this season is the most important season of Myles Lewis-Skelly's career. The competition for places in the midfield has never been as intense as it is at Arsenal, but that's even more reason for Lewis-Skelly to make a name for himself.

Lewis-Skelly is bound to make the Arsenal starting 11 as they host Coventry in the Premier League opener. Declan Rice looked fatigued at the World Cup, and with the squad depth in midfield, Arteta can finally rest him without feeling guilty.

Arsenal's best player of the last handful of games last season was Myles Lewis-Skelly. He was a constant threat in the opposition's half, and when the Gunners needed it most, he provided the composure and presence in transitional play.

He finally took on the positional switch every Arsenal fan was waiting for, converting from a full-back to a central midfielder. He looks so much more comfortable in the centre of the park, and Arteta learned the easy way that this is the best role for him going forward.

After being rested during the World Cup, not making the England squad, Lewis-Skelly looks even more energised than ever. He started the Community Shield and came up with an intricate and precise pass that left every Man City defender out of the game. Riccardo Calafiori got the goal, but even he admitted that it was mostly down to Lewis-Skelly's work on the ball.

As Arsenal seek market opportunities to make some money on a lucrative sale, it won't be Lewis-Skelly who is made to walk the plank.

It is the best outcome for all parties. You can't help but think that had Lewis-Skelly been sold, it would have been a decision that immediately bit Arsenal in the backside.

Thankfully, nobody will live to learn that lesson now.
