Unai Emery says player Arsenal wanted before Vinicius Jr and Morgan Rogers could win the Ballon d'Or

Arsenal’s search for a new left-winger is still ongoing.

The Gunners have needed an upgrade in that role for a couple of years now, but they stuck with Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard last year.

Since the end of last season, Arsenal have been linked with a number of left-wingers. Morgan Rogers and Vinicius Jr made the most headlines, but they weren’t the only ones.

Before either of them even came into the picture, Andrea Berta wanted to sign Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from Paris Saint-Germain.

Unai Emery has now had his say on the Georgian.

Unai Emery says Arsenal-linked Khvicha Kvaratskhelia can win the Ballon d’Or

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is one of the best wingers in the world.

The Georgia international made a tremendous name for himself at Napoli during his time there, and he has since gone to a whole new level at PSG.

After losing the Champions League final in May, Arsenal were linked with a move to sign Kvaratskhelia to solve their problems on the left wing.

The PSG superstar would’ve been an incredible addition, but those rumours died down very quickly as the French champions were never going to sell him.

Kvaratskhelia has since continued shining for PSG, with his latest act of brilliance being his goal against Emery’s Aston Villa in the UEFA Super Cup.

After the game, the former Arsenal manager heaped praise on the winger and even claimed that he is good enough to win the Ballon d’Or.

Emery said, as relayed on TNT Sports: “Of course, his impact was fantastic two years ago in Napoli and now at PSG.

“Today, he scored a fantastic goal. He scored a goal like he usually scores. We tried to avoid it, but his quality of shooting is really fantastic.

“For me, it’s not my decision, but I think he can win this trophy (Ballon d’Or).”

Kvaratskhelia would’ve been a game-changer for Arsenal, as would Vinicius, but the Gunners will not be signing either player now.

It remains to be seen who else Andrea Berta will target before the window shuts.
