Ian Wright says he’s hoping Julian Alvarez joins Arsenal
Julian Alvarez is arguably the biggest name in the transfer window at the moment.
The Argentine has made it clear to Atletico Madrid that he wants to leave the club, and his preferred destination is Barcelona.
However, Atleti have privately and publicly refused to do any business with their La Liga rivals and are currently blocking a move.
Arsenal are waiting for Alvarez to open the door to a move to North London, and it looks like Wright is hoping for the same too.
The legendary Gunners’ striker has claimed that the Atletico Madrid forward is the kind of player he wants at the Emirates Stadium.
He said on the Stick to Football podcast: “I still hope that they’re going for someone like Alvarez. I’d love to know that he’s not going to go to Barcelona and that he’ll come to us.
“But if that kind of player is available, that’s what you want.”

The Gunners have two top-class options in every single position, and they are in great shape to win the Premier League title again.
Adding Alvarez to what they already have would take Arsenal to an even higher level and make this a 9/10 window for Mikel Arteta’s side.
The reason it will not be a perfect window is that the champions still need another left winger. Whether they can sign anyone before the window shuts remains to be seen.
