“Magnificent signing” Rio Ferdinand reacts to Arsenal agreeing Konsa deal

Rio Ferdinand is impressed that Arsenal have managed to reach an agreement to sign Ezri Konsa this summer, as they continue to strengthen their squad and make it harder for their rivals to catch them.

Mikel Arteta’s side remains one of the top teams on the continent and has kept most of the players who helped them achieve success last season. They have also improved the group with several quality signings, with Konsa now set to become the latest addition after Arsenal agreed a deal for the English defender.

Ferdinand Praises Konsa Signing

At Aston Villa, Konsa has shown that he is one of the best players in the country when operating as a centre back or right back. Several clubs would be happy to have him in their squad, making his move to Arsenal an important addition for Arteta’s team.

‘I think this is a magnificent signing. A player in his prime who knows exactly who he is and what he is.

‘There’s no frills about him. He’s a solid, really, really, really good Premier League defender.

Ferdinand’s comments underline his belief that Konsa can make an immediate contribution to Arsenal’s defensive options. His ability to play in more than one position should also give Arteta greater flexibility as the team competes throughout the season.

Arsenal are advancing in their efforts to complete the transfer, with the reported agreement including £51 million plus add-ons. Ferdinand believes that figure represents excellent value for a defender of Konsa’s quality, particularly in the current transfer market.
