Coventry vs. Brighton: Head-to-head record and past meetings before Premier League clash

The 944th unique Premier League fixture commences at 2pm on Sunday afternoon, when Coventry City play host to Brighton & Hove Albion at the CBS Arena.

Frank Lampard's side are propping up the Premier League standings after losing each of their first three games without scoring, while shipping five in total to Manchester City, Hull City and Arsenal.

Meanwhile, the Seagulls have one win, one loss and one draw on their 2026-27 record so far, most recently coming from behind to hold Leeds United to a 1-1 draw in gameweek three.

Brighton & Hove Albion wins: 28

Coventry City and Brighton & Hove Albion have met on 70 previous occasions ahead of their maiden Premier League battle, and the Seagulls hold marginal head-to-head bragging rights with 28 wins to the Sky Blues' 19.

Two of those triumphs for the South Coast club have come in their last three showdowns, as Brighton eased past Coventry 3-1 in the 2017-18 FA Cup fifth round courtesy of Jurgen Locadia, Connor Goldson and Leonardo Ulloa's efforts.

The Seagulls also conquered Coventry 2-1 in their home clash during the 2011-12 Championship season, albeit before losing 2-0 at the Ricoh Arena just a few weeks later.

Furthermore, those two aforementioned victories for Brighton are the Seagulls' only two successes from their last 10 games against Coventry, a run stretching back to the days of the old First Division in 2002.

Coventry strung together a seven-game unbeaten run against Brighton between 2002 and 2006, a sequence that also included a 1-0 FA Cup third-round win in 2006 owing to a Gary McSheffrey strike.

The Sky Blues have also not suffered defeat on home soil to Brighton for a whopping 44 years, last losing on their own turf to the Seagulls in a 1981-82 First Division clash, which the South Coast side won 1-0.

Coventry boast the biggest margin of victory in this head-to-head too, thrashing Brighton 5-0 in the Division Three (South) competition in September 1935.

Meanwhile, Brighton's most emphatic wins over the Sky Blues were a pair of 5-1 successes, one league drubbing in 1909 and one FA Cup crushing in 1953.
