“Controlling games” Giggs names his favourite Arsenal man
Ryan Giggs has named his favourite Arsenal player as the Gunners continue their fine start to the season and aim to compete for as many trophies as possible.
Arsenal have been superb since the campaign began, winning all their matches in every competition so far. Their impressive form has made them strong contenders for silverware, with the team showing the quality and consistency required to compete across multiple fronts.
Mikel Arteta is leading one of the strongest Arsenal teams at the Emirates, and it is difficult to place a limit on what they can achieve while several of their key players are performing at a high level.
Odegaard making a strong start
The team’s progress is the result of contributions from all of its stars, but one standout performer so far has been Martin Odegaard. The midfielder has started the season like a new signing and has quickly reminded supporters of the quality he can provide.
Injuries were an issue for Odegaard last term, but he has returned to his physical best this season. The difference has been clear to see in his performances, with his influence in midfield helping Arsenal maintain control during matches.
His displays have also caught the attention of Giggs, who has selected Odegaard as his favourite Arsenal player at present. The former Manchester United star was asked to name his preferred Gunners player and immediately identified the Norwegian midfielder.
Giggs impressed by Odegaard
When asked about his favourite Gunners star, the Manchester United icon said via Football365:
“Odegaard at the moment.
“Looks like he’s controlling games, to me, and getting it off the back four, running in behind.
“He’s everywhere, and he just looks like…”
Giggs’ comments highlight the influence Odegaard has had during Arsenal’s impressive start. His ability to control games, receive possession from the defence and make runs forward has made him an important part of Arteta’s team.
With Arsenal hoping to challenge for trophies throughout the season, Odegaard’s form could prove particularly important. If he can remain fit and continue performing at this level, he could play a major role in the Gunners’ pursuit of success.
