Chelsea injury news: Xabi Alonso provides Moises Caicedo, Marco Palestra update ahead of Hull City fixture
Xabi Alonso has revealed that Moises Caicedo remains unavailable for Chelsea's Premier League game against Hull City.
The Blues head into Saturday's fixture at Stamford Bridge sitting behind the Tigers in the Premier League table.
However, Chelsea have scored 16 goals across five matches with Alonso at the helm, albeit still conceding 10 times.
Caicedo being limited to 14 minutes of action due to injury has contributed to the West Londoners looking vulnerable in defensive areas.
Although there had been hope that the Ecuador international could return to action this weekend, Alonso has ruled out that possibility.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, the Spaniard hinted that the midfielder may be in a position to return versus Brentford next Friday.
He told reporters: "Let's see for Brentford, but it's not the moment to take the risk with him. Not yet."
Meanwhile, Alonso revealed that Marco Palestra would also remain sidelined for the penultimate game before the international break.
Jordan Henderson and Emmanuel Emegha join Caicedo and Palestra in remaining out of action.
Romeo Lavia was not named in the squad for the 6-3 victory over Leeds United in the EFL Cup third round on Wednesday night.
Nevertheless, it was more a case of Alonso managing the minutes of the Belgian, rather than any specific issue.
Lavia had previously racked up 215 minutes across Chelsea's first four games of the season in all competitions.
Jorrel Hato and Joao Pedro also got a rest in midweek having remained as unused substitutes.
