Alarm bells should start ringing at Arsenal after hearing the real reason why Jarell Quansah left Liverpool

Alarm bells should start ringing at Arsenal after hearing the real reason why Jarell Quansah left Liverpool

Arsenal are showing interest in signing Jarell Quansah from Bayer Leverkusen.

William Saliba and Jurrien Timber will both miss the start of the new season, and that leaves the Gunners short of options at the back.

To cover those roles, Arsenal are looking for a defender who can play both as a centre-half and at right-back, and Quansah checks that box.

However, the former Liverpool man could become disgruntled very soon at the Emirates.

The reason behind Jarell Quansah’s Liverpool exit is a problem for Arsenal

Jarell Quansah was viewed as the future of Liverpool’s defence when he was coming through the ranks at the club.

The now 23-year-old was given his debut by Jurgen Klopp, and he produced a few excellent performances for the Reds.

However, Quansah grew tired of the lack of game time at Anfield, and if David Lynch is to be believed, he was desperate to leave and pushed for his exit.

“It really does get ignored massively – he was so keen to leave you would not believe it,” the journalist said, as per Rousing the Kop.

He also added: “He wanted to leave because he wanted to play football, and Liverpool could not offer him that or couldn’t offer him enough football that would have satisfied him.”

That shows great ambition on Quansah’s part, and he had an impressive campaign at Bayer Leverkusen following his departure from Anfield.

Those performances have caught Arsenal’s eye, and the Gunners seem keen to sign him. But they will likely face the same problem that Liverpool did.

As good as Quansah is, he is never going to displace a fully fit William Saliba or Gabriel Magalhaes, while Jurrien Timber will always be ahead of him at right-back as well when he returns from injury.

So, by the end of the year, Quansah will likely end up in the same position at Arsenal as he was at Liverpool before he wanted to leave.

If history is anything to go by, the Englishman could become desperate to leave again, which would not be ideal at all.

That should ring alarm bells at Arsenal as they think about signing him this summer.
