Morgan Rogers tried to get Arsenal to sign him before he accepted Chelsea’s offer

Arsenal were one of the clubs that wanted to sign Morgan Rogers this summer, and at one point, the Gunners were considered the favourites to secure his signature.
Mikel Arteta’s side had watched Rogers impress in domestic and continental football for Aston Villa and believed he would be the perfect fit for their team. However, a move to the Emirates never materialised, as he instead joined Chelsea for more than 120m euros.
Rogers preferred Arsenal move
Rogers has since become a key player at the West London club, but his preference was reportedly different before the transfer was completed. The exciting attacker had attracted strong interest from Arsenal, and supporters hoped he would eventually make the move to their team.
The Gunners were ultimately disappointed when Chelsea won the race for his signature. However, Rogers himself reportedly preferred a move to the Emirates over joining Chelsea. Metro Sport says that when the Blues advanced their interest, Rogers’ entourage contacted Arsenal.
They offered the Gunners an opportunity to hijack the transfer before it was completed by Chelsea. Despite being given the chance to make a late move for the attacker, Arsenal were not interested in spending such a large amount of money on him.

Arsenal refused to meet asking price
Although Arsenal have been linked with a move for Vinicius Junior, the Gunners have shown a remarkable unwillingness to sign players for significant fees. That approach ultimately contributed to Rogers joining Chelsea instead.
Rogers could therefore have ended up at Arsenal if the Gunners had been willing to match the financial commitment required to complete the transfer. His preference for a move to the Emirates gave Arsenal an opportunity to change the outcome, but they chose not to take it.
Chelsea eventually completed the deal for more than 120m euros, securing a player who has since become an important member of their team. For Arsenal, the decision not to pursue the opportunity means they missed out on a player who had been strongly interested in joining the Gunners.
