Marcus Rashford to Arsenal? Christos Tzolis has proven the Gunners don’t need to spend £100m again

Arsenal’s quest for a new left-sided forward this summer has been one of the hot topics of the entire window.
A move for Vinicius Jr lit up fans for a few weeks before eventually dying down. That deal – set to cost Arsenal well over £200m over the course of any contract – showed the ambition and thought process of the board and manager right now.
Since that deal effectively broke down, others have been spoken about, while Gabriel Martinelli continues to be linked with a move away.
However, this weekend’s Community Shield win over Man City saw Arsenal fans introduced to Christos Tzolis. Signed for just over £30m this summer, Tzolis excelled on debut.
Indeed, with that sort of fee in mind, could it now make sense for Arsenal to try and land Marcus Rashford?
Marcus Rashford to Arsenal would make all kinds of sense
Rashford is back with Man United this summer after spending last season with Barcelona.
Despite impressing, though, Barca did not want to fork out the reported £35m fee they needed to pay to set up a permanent deal.
However, if that is the sort of money United might be willing to do business at, it makes sense for Arsenal to test the waters.
Mikel Arteta is an admirer of Rashford anyway and he has been linked before. But with Tzolis showing against City that he is more than good enough to occupy that left side and beat men down the outside, signing Rashford gives Arsenal a player who can go the other way.

Furthermore, Rashford needs no introduction to the Premier League. Likewise, he comes in off the back of a good season in Spain, where he netted eight times in La Liga.
Of course, United may not be open to doing business with the Gunners.
But in a time when big fees are being floated about and Arsenal are clearly looking for a certain type of player, they could do far worse than sign Rashford.
In fact, the idea of Tzolis and Rashford battling it out for that position and causing different yet equal problems for defences, is a mouth-watering prospect.
