Arsenal v Chelsea: Team News, Predicted Lineup and Score Prediction

Arsenal welcome Chelsea to Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon with both teams looking to maintain their perfect start to the Premier League season.

After two wins from two, Mikel Arteta now has some important selection decisions to make ahead of the 4.30pm London derby.

Arsenal Team News

The biggest concerns surround Bruno Guimaraes and Cristhian Mosquera after both picked up problems during Arsenal’s 1-0 victory at Aston Villa.

Arteta confirmed that Bruno suffered a knock at Villa Park, while Mosquera was forced off during the game. Decisions on both players will be made this weekend.

There is better news regarding Jurrien Timber, who has returned to training as he continues his recovery.

William Saliba remains a longer-term absentee, although Arteta revealed that the defender’s progress over recent weeks has been “really positive”.

The Arsenal boss will therefore have to assess his defensive options carefully, particularly if Mosquera is unable to feature.

How Could Arsenal Line Up?

Much may depend on the late fitness tests, but Arteta is unlikely to want unnecessary changes after winning at Villa Park.

Chelsea have scored seven goals across their opening two league matches, so maintaining Arsenal’s defensive solidity will be important.

Bukayo Saka should retain his place after scoring in both Premier League games so far, while Arsenal will hope to exploit a Chelsea defence that has already conceded five league goals this season.

Predicted Arsenal XI:

Goalkeeper: Raya

Defence: White, Mosquera, Gabriel, Calafiori

Midfield: Rice, Lewis-Skelly, Odegaard

Attack: Saka, Havertz, Tzolis

Prediction assumes Mosquera passes late fitness test.

Chelsea Team News

Chelsea also have an important fitness concern, with Moises Caicedo facing a late test after being forced off during their 4-3 victory over Brighton.

Jordan Henderson remains unavailable after suffering an injury during the World Cup with England, although Xabi Alonso has indicated that the midfielder is getting closer to returning.

Score Prediction

Chelsea’s attacking start to the season means this should provide Arsenal with their toughest test yet.

However, the Gunners have been outstanding defensively, allowing just one shot on target across their opening two Premier League matches.

Home advantage and Arsenal’s excellent recent record against Chelsea could prove decisive.

Prediction: Arsenal 2-1 Chelsea

Is this the Arsenal XI you expect Arteta to select? Will we see Viktor Gyokeres feature today?
