Brentford make contract move as Arsenal circle 24-year-old forward

Arsenal are monitoring Brentford winger Kevin Schade as the Bees step up efforts to secure the Germany international on a new long-term contract.
The 24-year-old has emerged as a player of interest to the Gunners following his impressive development in the Premier League.
According to Sky Sports, Brentford have now held initial discussions with Schade over improved terms as Arsenal and Liverpool continue to monitor the player.
Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have also tracked the forward, although Arsenal and Liverpool are understood to have shown the strongest interest towards the end of the summer transfer window.
Schade ultimately remained at the Gtech Community Stadium and has since made an excellent start to the new campaign.
The Germany international has scored three times in Brentford’s opening five Premier League matches, helping the unbeaten Bees establish themselves among the early European contenders.
His performances have strengthened Brentford’s determination to secure his long-term future before potential suitors return.
Schade has two years remaining on the contract he signed after completing a permanent £20 million move from Freiburg in June 2023.
The winger initially arrived in west London on loan six months earlier before Brentford activated an obligation to make the transfer permanent.
He has since developed into an established Premier League attacker, recording 25 goals and nine assists across 119 appearances for the club.
Schade enjoyed his most productive top-flight campaign in 2024-25 when he scored 11 league goals, before adding another eight in the Premier League last season.
His combination of pace, direct running and versatility across the forward line could provide Arsenal with another option as they continue planning the long-term development of their attack.
Arsenal refreshed their forward options considerably during the summer but remain attentive to opportunities involving players capable of developing further.
Schade also has considerable international experience after establishing himself with Germany during his time at Brentford.
He was part of Germany’s squad at the World Cup and started Jurgen Klopp’s first match as national-team head coach against the Netherlands on Thursday.
The winger’s form has continued since returning from the tournament, with his three league goals coming from only nine attempts this season.
Brentford are therefore moving to strengthen their position before the transfer market reopens.
A new agreement would potentially make any future Arsenal move more expensive, although there is no indication yet that Schade has agreed to extend his stay.
For now, Arsenal’s interest remains at the monitoring stage as Brentford attempt to convince one of their most valuable attackers to commit his long-term future to the club.
