Fabrizio Romano: Arsenal star is definitely leaving after what Mikel Arteta did in the Community Shield

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has named a strong side to face Manchester City in the Community Shield.

The Gunners have won each of their last five games in this competition, while Arteta has never lost this fixture as a player or manager.

That should give the Premier League champions the belief to get the job done, but not every member of the Arsenal squad will be too happy right now.

One of them is Ethan Nwaneri.

Fabrizio Romano says Ethan Nwaneri will leave after being left out of Community Shield squad

Nwaneri has been in the news a lot during pre-season.

The teenager spent the second half of last season on loan at Marseille, where he found it really difficult following the departure of Roberto De Zerbi.

When he returned, Mikel Arteta claimed that Nwaneri looked like a different man, but his stance on the youngster doesn’t seem to have changed.

The Arsenal boss has left Nwaneri out of the 20-man squad to face Manchester City in the Community Shield. That sends a clear message that there just isn’t any space for him in this side.

Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed that a decision was made about his future weeks ago.

He tweeted: “Ethan Nwaneri will leave Arsenal before the end of the summer transfer window, as planned weeks ago.

“He’s not even on the bench today against Man City despite being involved in pre-season.”

Ethan Nwaneri should be loaned out, not sold

Nwaneri’s exclusion isn’t too big of a surprise, but that doesn’t mean he is a bad player.

The 19-year-old is among the best players of his age in England, and he still has the potential to become an absolute superstar in the coming years.

For that reason, Arsenal should send Nwaneri out on loan for the upcoming campaign instead of selling him and losing control.

However, this time, the Gunners should pick the right club, as their last choice proved to be a total disaster for the academy graduate.
