Aston Villa star wants a repeat of beating Arsenal last year

Arsenal lost on their last visit to Villa Park and have lost two of their last three visits to the stadium, where they will face Aston Villa this evening. Emi Buendía expects the hosts to beat the Gunners again as they look to build on their previous success.

The game may have come too early for the Villans, who are trying to stabilise their team after being forced to lose some of the players who helped them win the Europa League last season. Their squad has undergone significant changes during the current window.

The Villans remain one of the top clubs in the country, despite making a poor start to the season. They were beaten 4-0 in their first league game of the campaign, leaving them with a difficult challenge as they prepare to respond against Arsenal.

Buendía wants another Arsenal victory

Villa will be looking to overcome that disappointing result and show they can compete this term, despite the departure of key players from the club during this window.

One of their main men over the years has been Buendía, and the attacker is hoping to continue hurting Arsenal when the Gunners visit Villa Park tonight. His previous experience against the visitors gives him confidence ahead of the fixture.

Speaking ahead of the game, he told Villa’s website:

“First match at home with our fans against the champions from last year, so it’s going to be a really great game. We have to look forward to it.

“The result was amazing last year, with that goal at the end.

Villa want to repeat success

Buendía clearly remembers the feeling of Villa’s previous victory and hopes his side can produce another memorable performance in front of their supporters. Arsenal will be aware of the threat posed by the hosts, particularly given their recent record at the stadium.

“The feeling was incredible personally, and I think for everyone at Villa Park, so hopefully we can repeat this year.

“We have the experience of last season’s victory, so we want the same.”

Villa will hope that their previous success against Arsenal can provide the confidence needed to recover from their opening defeat. The Gunners, meanwhile, will be determined to avoid another setback at a ground where they have struggled in recent visits.
