Arsenal make contact over hiring Dortmund chief scout

Sky Germany reporter Patrick Berger writes that Arsenal are interested in Borussia Dortmund chief scout Sebastian Krug. Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are also in the race, and the Gunners have made initial contact with the scout over a potential move.
Berger points out that Krug has played a key role in several of Dortmund’s biggest deals, including the signings of Jude Bellingham and Erling Haaland.
Arsenal fans will probably be a little wary about getting excited over the club signing a member of the Dortmund recruitment staff, given Sven Mislintat’s previous spell at the club.
Mislintat had a few wins with Arsenal, including the cut-price signing of Konstantinos Mavropanos and his role in bringing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to the club.
But the recruitment specialist’s spell was underwhelming overall, and it ended just 15 months after it started. He was most recently working for Fortuna Dusseldorf in the German third tier.
All the same, the fact multiple other Premier League clubs are chasing Krug suggests there’s a strong consensus that he can add something to a recruitment team behind the scenes. Arsenal now need to convince him to pick them over the alternatives.
