Arsenal have finally done something in the summer transfer window that'll actually make fans happy
Not everyone is fully happy with Arsenal’s summer transfer business.
The Gunners went into the window as the Premier League champions, and after losing the Champions League final, everyone expected them to go big on new signings.
The priority for the fans was a new world-class attacker, but despite trying to land a few, Andrea Berta couldn’t get anyone in.
That is disappointing, but there’s at least one thing Arsenal haven’t done in this window that fans will appreciate.
Arsenal break trend of signing players from Chelsea
Arsenal fans have been sick of seeing their club sign players from Chelsea.
The Gunners had made it a habit of bringing in players from their London rivals, even when many fans had been against the idea of recruiting those players.
Arsenal signed David Luiz in 2019, Willian in 2020 and then Jorginho in January 2023.
Then, in each of the last three summer transfer windows, Mikel Arteta signed Kai Havertz, Raheem Sterling, and, in 2025, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Noni Madueke.
Arsenal had the chance of signing a player from Chelsea for the fourth summer transfer window in a row.
Several fans were dreading the idea of Arteta making a move for someone like Pedro Neto or Mykhaylo Mudryk on deadline day.
Thankfully, Arsenal did no such thing.
Even though there is frustration that the champions did not sign a new attacker, we are glad that they didn’t make a move for another Chelsea player.
We hope this is the end of that trend, unless someone like Cole Palmer suddenly becomes available next year.
Tottenham may have taken over Arsenal’s trend of signing players from Chelsea
Arsenal fans will be hoping that their streak of signing average players from Chelsea is finally over.
Tottenham may have replaced the Gunners in that department.
After signing a former Chelsea man in Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid last season, Spurs have just signed Tosin Adarabioyo and Mudryk in this window.
If you had gone up to a Blues fan and asked them to name any two players they would voluntarily send to Spurs, we think it would be those two.
We won’t be surprised at all if Tottenham finish in the bottom half of the Premier League table for the third season running with signings like them.
