Coventry City vs. Brighton: Frank Lampard's side bidding to avoid matching Crystal Palace Premier League feat

Coventry City will be hoping to avoid matching a Premier League feat held by Crystal Palace when they face Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday afternoon.

The Sky Blues welcome the Seagulls to the CBS Arena sitting at the bottom of the Premier League table.

With seven top-flight fixtures taking place on Saturday, there is the possibility of Frank Lampard's side being two points adrift of 19th place come kickoff in the Midlands.

Lampard will not be overly concerned with his team's current plight, a consequence of having already played Arsenal and Manchester City on away territory.

Nevertheless, Coventry are still in a position where they could equal Premier League history this weekend.

Despite their spirited performance at the Etihad Stadium last weekend, Coventry are yet to score a goal in this season's Premier League.

In the division's history, only Crystal Palace in 2017-18 have lost and failed to score in all four of their opening matches.

While Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur are still searching for their first goal, they have each posted a draw in their first three games.

Coventry are also bidding to avoid losing their first four league fixtures in a season for the first time since 1919-20.

From Brighton's perspective, they are attempting to avoid suffering defeat in four consecutive Premier League away fixtures for the first time since November 2019.

Sunday's encounter represents the first time that these teams have squared off in a league game since a Championship contest on New Year's Eve in 2011.

They have not met in a top-flight game since the 1982-83 campaign.
