Atletico Madrid prepare for Arsenal bid as they eye Premier League star

Atletico Madrid are prepared to sell Julian Alvarez to Arsenal before this transfer window closes after humiliating him in front of their fans at the weekend. Alvarez has maintained throughout the summer that he wants to move to Barcelona, but Atletico have insisted they will not sell their player to the Catalan club, despite his continued desire to make the move.

Barcelona are not the only club interested in signing Alvarez, with Arsenal also keen on one of the best attackers in the game. The Gunners are finalising the sale of Gabriel Martinelli and preparing to sell Gabriel Jesus before the window closes, meaning they will need another attacker. They are prepared to spend heavily on Alvarez.

Arsenal Hope for Alvarez Move

Arsenal could convince Atletico to sell Alvarez to them, particularly as the Spanish side are now preparing for another striker. A report by Team Talk says Atletico are in the race to sign Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea, with the Senegalese striker potentially serving as Alvarez’s replacement if the move goes through.

That development could pave the way for the World Cup winner to leave the Wanda Metropolitano, with Arsenal hoping his departure would allow them to bring him to the Emirates. The Gunners remain interested and could be ready to act if Atletico make Alvarez available.

Alvarez Yet to Approve Arsenal Move

However, Alvarez has still not given his approval to a move to Arsenal. His preference has remained a transfer to Barcelona, while Atletico have continued to reject the possibility of selling him to the Catalan club. That leaves the situation dependent on whether Arsenal can convince the player to consider a different destination.

The Gunners remain hopeful that circumstances will change before the transfer window closes. With Martinelli and Jesus potentially leaving, adding another attacker has become important, and Alvarez would represent a major target for the club.

Atletico’s interest in Jackson could therefore prove significant, as securing another striker would make it easier for them to consider Alvarez’s departure. Arsenal are prepared to move quickly if that opportunity arises, but the player must first approve the proposed move to north London.

For now, Alvarez remains without a clear path away from Atletico, but Arsenal are waiting for the door to open and are ready to act if it does.
