Myles Lewis-Skelly dominated the headlines for a few days earlier this month.

The teenager had a phenomenal end to last season, had a great pre-season at Arsenal this summer, and has started each of their first two games.

However, during that time, wild rumours claimed that Lewis-Skelly had been offered to Chelsea and Manchester United.

Now, Football Transfers have revealed that talks indeed took place between the Gunners and the Red Devils, but that happened behind Mikel Arteta’s back.

The report claims that the Arsenal manager ‘was initially not privy to the conversations that were taking place with Manchester United regarding a possible move – and neither was Lewis-Skelly, for that matter’.

As soon as Arteta heard what was happening, he put a stop to it.

The message from the Spaniard to the decision-makers of the club was crystal clear: Lewis-Skelly is going nowhere!

Luckily for Arsenal fans, the teenager feels the same way and wants to stay at the club beyond the end of the summer transfer window.

Lewis-Skelly hasn’t put a foot wrong in the wins against Manchester City and Coventry, and he deserves to keep his place in the side.

Bruno Guimaraes’ injury makes the decision easier for Arteta, but it will be interesting to see what happens once the Brazilian returns.
