German media have found something ‘interesting’ about Ethan Nwaneri’s start at Borussia Dortmund

Ethan Nwaneri has hit the ground running in Germany.

The Arsenal loanee forced an own goal on his Bundesliga debut against Hoffenheim before putting on an impressive Champions League display against Villarreal.

Nwaneri was forced into action early on Tuesday night due to an injury to Konstantinos Karetsas, where he managed 55 touches and got six shots off.

Arsenal fans have been delighted with his start and the club hope that he can come back next summer ready to challenge for a first-team role.

Now, those inside German football are taking notice too.

German media praise Ethan Nwaneri’s start at Borussia Dortmund

Patrick Berger, Sky Germany’s Borussia Dortmund expert, spoke about Nwaneri on the BVB Podcast.

“I also thought — because you mentioned Nwaneri — that he had a really good game yesterday. And in the appearances he’s had, Ethan Nwaneri has really already shown that he’s a very good player.

“So it’s also interesting that someone can come in and immediately perform without needing a long period of acclimatisation.”

Typically, players need time to settle into a new league, a new system, a new country, so an adjustment period is normal and expected. We saw how Nwaneri’s Marseille loan went badly wrong soon after a promising start because the environment wasn’t ideal for him.

At Dortmund, according to their own media, there hasn’t really been an adjustment period. He has put up convincing performances straight away that have caught the eye of those who watch Dortmund week in, week out.

Arsenal were right to loan Nwaneri out this season, and they may have just done so to the perfect club. Hopefully he keeps it up.
