Arsenal winger James Scanlon scores for Gibraltar against Malta

Arsenal academy winger James Scanlon scored an equaliser for Gibraltar’s senior team in their 1-1 draw away to Malta in the Nations League tonight.
Malta had taken the lead through a goal from Joseph Mbong but Scanlon equalised just after the hour mark with his sixth international goal.
The 20-year-old is the second highest ever scorer for Gibraltar, behind Liam Walker, who found the net eight times.
Gibraltar drew for the third game in succession in this international break, with this game following on from goalless matches against São Tome and Prinicpe and Andorra.
They will conclude this set of international fixtures with a friendly away to Liechtenstein next week.
Scanlon, who can play as a winger or in midfield, has impressed for Arsenal at U21 level since joining from Manchester United’s academy towards the end of the summer transfer window.
He scored in his first two appearances for Arsenal U21s against Brighton and Chelsea.
Scanlon has already played 27 times for Gibraltar at senior level and also previously gained experience of senior football during a loan spell at Swindon Town when he was a United player.
