Arsenal turned down Jack Wilshere’s request to sign youngster

Max Dowman has remained one of the best players to come out of the Arsenal academy in recent times, but he is not getting as much game time as he would have liked with the senior team.
This has led to him being tipped to leave the Emirates on loan on several occasions, with the youngster potentially benefiting from playing regularly at another club. A move to a top level side or a club operating at a lower level could provide him with valuable experience.
Wilshere Wanted Dowman at Luton
Most clubs send young players out on loan to help them gain regular game time and continue their development. Arsenal have also used that mechanism several times, with Ethan Nwaneri spending this season on loan at Borussia Dortmund.
However, the Gunners never opened the door for Dowman to leave, despite interest in taking the teenager elsewhere. A source told Talk Sport that Jack Wilshere has asked several times for Arsenal to allow him to borrow Dowman for a season.
Wilshere was keen to work with the youngster at Luton Town, where Dowman could potentially have been given a regular role. The attacker has performed well whenever he has played for Arsenal, but a spell at Luton could have provided him with more opportunities to play consistently under Wilshere.
The Luton manager therefore wanted Arsenal to allow him to coach Dowman on loan, believing the youngster could benefit from playing regularly while continuing his development away from the Emirates.

Arsenal Believe Dowman Has a Role to Play
However, the report adds that Arsenal turned down Wilshere’s request to add the youngster to his squad. The Gunners believe Dowman has a role to play in their senior team this season and had already considered him part of their plans during the previous campaign.
That decision means Dowman has remained with Arsenal despite the limited opportunities available to him. The club clearly believes keeping him around the senior squad is important for his development and for their own plans.
For Dowman, the situation means he must continue taking advantage of every opportunity he receives. His performances have shown what he can offer, and Arsenal will hope that giving him further chances can help him develop without needing to send him away on loan.
