Arsenal scouts find another Kai Havertz as unhappy Viktor Gyokeres eyes January exit
Kai Havertz has been Arsenal’s first-choice striker this season.
Mikel Arteta loves the Germany international, and it is clear to everyone that he prefers him over Viktor Gyokeres in the centre-forward position.
That has led to a lot of speculation about the Swede. Reports have claimed that Gyokeres is unhappy and his representatives are already in talks with overseas clubs over a move in January.
Irrespective of what happens there, Arsenal could do with a new forward in January, and it looks like their scouts have found one.
Arsenal are showing interest in Borussia Dortmund forward Maximilian Beier
Kai Havertz is exactly the kind of player Arteta wants leading his line.
The Arsenal manager prefers a forward who can occupy multiple positions, drop deep if required, link play up, and be involved in every phase of play.
Gyokeres is certainly not that type, which is why the Gunners were heavily linked with a new striker in the summer. Julian Alvarez checked all of Arteta’s boxes.
We’re sure Arsenal would love the Argentine in January, but that looks extremely unlikely because of his Barcelona dream. So, the Premier League champions have looked elsewhere.
TeamTalk have revealed that Maximilian Beier has emerged as an alternative target for Arsenal as they draw up a list of forwards ahead of the winter window.
The report claims that Gunners scouts have been really impressed with the Borussia Dortmund man and have drawn similarities to his compatriot, Havertz.
Furthermore, the same scouts believe Beier would be a good fit at Arsenal and will continue to monitor him in the coming months as they keep an eye on Ethan Nwaneri, who is also at Dortmund on loan.
Arsenal target Max Beier’s style of play
Beier definitely has similarities with Havertz.
The 23-year-old is extremely versatile. Just this season, he has played on both wings, as a number 10, in the role of a second striker and also as a centre-forward. That makes him a very useful player to have.
Beier is also very comfortable with both feet, has the ability to score goals and provide assists, and his movement to draw defenders out of position is excellent.
However, the negative similarity he shares with Havertz is that he is not incredibly prolific. In 97 games for Dortmund, he has scored just 21 goals and provided 19 assists.
That is a concern if you’re an Arsenal fan, as the Gunners now need someone who can guarantee goals for them on a consistent basis. Beier, as things stand, is not that player.
