Arsenal makes plans to snap up Liverpool wonderkid
Liverpool signed Rio Ngumoha from Chelsea’s youth team, and he has emerged as one of the best teenagers in English football since making the move. However, questions remain over how long he will stay at Anfield, particularly with interest from other major clubs.
During the summer, Bayern Munich made an attempt to add Ngumoha to their squad and reportedly reached an agreement with the youngster on personal terms. Liverpool, however, rejected their advances because they consider him an important player for their future.
The Reds have continued to demonstrate that they see Ngumoha as having a future at Anfield, while also giving him opportunities to become an important part of the first team.
Arsenal join the race
Liverpool now face another challenge to keep the youngster, with Arsenal reportedly interested in signing him. Metro Sports reports that the Gunners want to add Ngumoha to their squad, creating another potential battle for his signature.
Arsenal already have one of England’s best teenagers in Max Dowman, who is developing quickly, but the Gunners appear keen to strengthen their collection of young talent further by pursuing Ngumoha.
However, a deal would not be straightforward. Ngumoha is reportedly happy at Liverpool, while the Reds have a manager who has made him an important part of the first team. That could give Liverpool an advantage if Arsenal attempt to convince him to make the move.
Liverpool face another challenge
The youngster’s current situation means Arsenal may have to work hard to change his mind. Regular involvement with Liverpool’s first team provides Ngumoha with an important opportunity to continue his development, and leaving that environment could affect his role.
Nevertheless, Arsenal’s interest is unlikely to disappear simply because Liverpool are keen to keep him. The Gunners could continue to push for his signature and monitor his situation at Anfield as they assess whether a move could become possible.
If Ngumoha eventually becomes unhappy with his situation at Liverpool, Arsenal could have a greater opportunity to sign him. For now, though, the Reds remain determined to keep the highly rated youngster, while Arsenal’s reported interest adds another layer to the situation surrounding his future.
