Arsenal let him go for free, now 37-year-old goal machine is looking better than ever

Arsenal have made some big calls on players during Mikel Arteta’s time in charge and some huge characters and names have moved on.

Arteta has been ruthless in his approach to improving not only the first-team but also the culture in general.

It’s worked, too, with the Gunners now Premier League champions and coming within just a kick of the ball of being Champions League winners too.

Still, while some leave Arsenal and fail, some have carried on having great success.

And while he might not be everyone’s cup of tea, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang is defying Father Time at new club, Deportivo de A Coruna.

Pierre Emerick Aubameyang’s brilliant La Liga record continues at 37

Aubameyang has had a few clubs since leaving Arsenal by mutual consent in 2022 and after getting a move to Saudi Arabia, many assumed he’d just drift into the sunset.

However, a move to Deportivo in Spain this summer seems to have breathed new life into the striker.

Now at 37, Aubameyang is looking as good as ever up top for the La Liga outfit. This weekend, he netted once again to make it five goals for the season in just five games, with another two assists thrown in.

In fact, the only game Aubameyang hasn’t scored in was the opener against Real Madrid. Since then, he’s netted every week, helping Deportivo into 6th place in La Liga.

Put simply, Aubameyang is simply showing the class we all know he had in the locker. Despite his fallout in the end, he was a superb forward for the Gunners.

Now, at the ripe old age of 37, he is very much displaying that age can indeed be just a number.
