Arsenal gets a good draw in Carabao Cup fourth round
Arsenal have been drawn to face Fleetwood Town in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup after the Gunners beat Ipswich Town in the previous round of the competition.
The Carabao Cup is one of the competitions Arsenal want to win this season as they target a quadruple by the end of the campaign. The Gunners believe they have enough depth within their squad to compete for every available trophy.
Mikel Arteta’s side have been one of the most consistent teams across competitions in recent seasons, and they reached the final of the Carabao Cup last term.
Arsenal aim to go further
The final was supposed to be the first of four trophies Arsenal would win last term, but a poor second-half performance allowed Manchester City to beat them and claim the trophy.
Arsenal are now an even stronger unit this season, and the Gunners believe they know what it takes to compete for silverware. They will therefore need to approach their meeting with Fleetwood Town seriously and avoid underestimating their opponents.
As reported by the Daily Mail, the match will be played at Fleetwood Town, giving the hosts the opportunity to welcome Arsenal for the fourth round tie.
The report adds that the game will be played around October 26, with Arsenal confident they can progress. Their confidence is also influenced by the draw, particularly when compared with some of the other ties involving teams competing for the competition.
Carabao Cup fourth round draw
The complete fourth round draw includes several intriguing fixtures, with Liverpool hosting Chelsea. Manchester City or Norwich City will face Brighton, while Everton meet Newcastle.
The other ties include Sunderland against Brentford, Bradford City against Peterborough, Fulham against Crystal Palace and Bournemouth against Aston Villa.
Arsenal will now turn their attention towards Fleetwood Town as they continue their Carabao Cup campaign. Having already overcome Ipswich Town, Arteta’s side will look to take another step towards the trophy as they pursue their wider ambitions for the season.
