Arsenal defender steps up injury recovery with individual training at former club

Arsenal defender Cristhian Mosquera has been spotted training at former club Valencia as he steps up his recovery from injury during the international break.
Mosquera returned to Valencia’s Ciudad Deportiva de Paterna on Thursday, where he trained individually while also taking the opportunity to visit some of his former team-mates.
The 22-year-old was pictured wearing Arsenal shorts and a black training shirt as he worked on one of the pitches at the complex.
According to Spanish outlet Superdeporte, Mosquera has been working alongside a Valencia rehabilitation specialist as he continues his recovery from a thigh problem.
The defender has used the beginning of the extended international break to spend time close to his family in Spain while maintaining his fitness before returning to north London.

His appearance on the training pitch represents an encouraging development for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, who has been without Mosquera since the end of August.
The Spain international suffered the problem during Arsenal’s 1-0 Premier League victory over Aston Villa on August 31, having impressed alongside Gabriel Magalhães in central defence.
Arteta initially played down the severity of the injury, describing Mosquera’s substitution at Villa Park as precautionary.
However, the defender subsequently missed matches against Chelsea, Napoli, Sunderland, Ipswich Town and Brighton & Hove Albion as Arsenal opted against rushing his recovery.
Mosquera travelled with the squad for Saturday’s 3-0 defeat at Brighton despite not being included in the matchday group and watched the warm-up from the touchline.
Arsenal now have an extended period without a fixture because of the international break, with their Premier League campaign resuming against Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium on October 10.
The break therefore provides Mosquera with additional recovery time, and he is currently expected to be in contention for the meeting with Leeds if his rehabilitation continues without complications.
His return would be particularly welcome given the injury problems Arsenal have experienced across their defence during the opening weeks of the season.
William Saliba remains sidelined with a back problem, while Ben White missed the defeat at Brighton despite Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta previously indicating that he was close to returning.
Jurrien Timber only recently made his comeback following his own lengthy absence and started at the Amex Stadium.
Mosquera’s individual work in familiar surroundings at Paterna consequently offers Arsenal another encouraging sign that their defensive options could be considerably stronger when club football resumes.
