Arsenal confirm signing of prolific England youth striker from Liverpool
Arsenal have confirmed the signing of highly-rated England youth striker Vincent Joseph following his departure from Liverpool.
The 16-year-old has joined the Gunners as part of their first-year scholarship intake for the 2026/27 campaign and will initially link up with the academy.
Joseph arrives with an impressive goalscoring reputation after progressing through Liverpool’s youth system, where he spent around nine years before deciding to continue his development in north London.
The striker was already playing above his age group last season and made an immediate impression after stepping up to Under-18 level while still a schoolboy.
Joseph scored three times across his first two Under-18 Premier League appearances, providing an early indication of his ability to translate his goalscoring record to a higher level.
His performances for England have been equally impressive, with the teenager registering eight goals and an assist across nine appearances for the Under-16s.
Those numbers have established Joseph as one of the more prolific forwards in his age group and Arsenal will hope he can continue that development within their academy.
The youngster will also encounter several familiar faces following his switch to north London.
Joseph has previously played alongside Arsenal prospects Emerson Nwaneri and Charlie Phillips at international level, with his partnership with Nwaneri particularly productive for England.
His arrival continues Arsenal’s efforts to strengthen their academy by recruiting highly-rated youngsters from elsewhere in British football.
Fellow striker Mylo Bernard recently joined from Crystal Palace as another first-year scholar, while Arsenal have also strengthened their youth ranks with Axel Donczew.
The club have simultaneously looked overseas, recently announcing a pre-contract agreement for Georgian attacker Andria Bartishvili ahead of his scheduled arrival in 2027.
Joseph’s immediate task will be establishing himself within Arsenal’s Under-18 setup and helping the academy compete for silverware this season.
His record suggests Arsenal have acquired a forward with considerable potential, although his development will remain the priority at just 16.
The Gunners have demonstrated their pathway for exceptional academy players through the emergence of Max Dowman and others in recent seasons.
Joseph will now hope to follow that route after choosing Arsenal as the next destination in his promising career.
