Arsenal appoint first Chief Revenue Officer following Slot departure
Arsenal have promoted Omar Shaikh to the newly created role of Chief Revenue Officer as part of the club’s commercial restructure following the departure of Chief Commercial Officer Juliet Slot.
Shaikh’s appointment comes with “an expanded remit across the club’s revenue-generating functions, including partnerships, ventures, commercial venue and retail operations”. He will also join the Executive Team led by Chief Executive Officer Richard Garlick.
Shaikh joined Arsenal from Liverpool in 2023 and worked closely with Slot, who recruited him to the club. She endorsed his appointment in a farewell message shared on LinkedIn yesterday:
“Updating my LinkedIn post today after nearly 5 years at Arsenal, and on the day Omar Shaikh who I recruited over 3 years ago, has today become the first CRO for Arsenal is a big day for me, and him.
“Firstly to congratulate Omar for his promotion, well deserved and one that fills me with huge pride. It is always great to leave a position and know that someone internally has the chance to take on a significant part of your role. We all worked together on our plan and Omar was a huge part of delivering our record revenues in partnerships.
“Omar is supported commercially with two incredible Directors Hannah Chick (retail) and Tom McCann (venue) who will work brilliantly together alongside the rest of his partnerships and ventures team to continue to drive revenue for Arsenal.”
It was revealed in July that Slot would step down after almost five years at the Emirates, a period during which Arsenal’s commercial income doubled.
During her final months at the club, she oversaw a series of partnership renewals with brands including Cadbury, Google Pixel and Hotels.com. Arsenal also extended its long-standing relationship with Emirates, the club’s principal partner and shirt sponsor.
