On Friday, the Premier League ruled Manchester City guilty on 114 of 115 charges spanning 2008/09 to 2017/18 for breaching multiple league financial regulations.

The Cityzens were also sanctioned for failure to adequately cooperate with the ensuing investigation, while there is also UEFA precedent for awarding titles to runners-up placed behind a penalised first-place side.

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur may also be among several clubs entitled to financial recompense for Manchester City's violations, while Liverpool are thought to be pursuing £100million as a consequence of the rule infringements.

A report from The Times revealed that the trio of Premier League clubs, as well as Manchester United, submitted notices to Manchester City in 2024 regarding pursuing future compensation should the club be found guilty.

Since City was charged for a timeframe concluding in 2018, the clubs lodged the request within the necessary six-year statute of limitations to maintain eligibility for future compensation.

The £100 million sum was determined based on the forfeited revenue from inferior league placements, which has a corresponding knock-on impact regarding missed Champions League qualification.

The Times highlighted Everton's £40m settlement to Burnley following the club's financial misconduct in 2021/22, which enabled the Toffees to retain their Premier League status while the Clarets were relegated.

The Cityzens released a prompt statement after the news of the club's guilty verdict.

That ultimately referenced the club's February 2023 statement from when the charges were initially brought forward.

It reads: "The Premier League process remains ongoing, with significant elements to be completed, and subject to strict confidentiality.

Official premium experiences at the Emirates are available now for the 26/27 Premier League season. Make it easier than ever to turn a regular fixture into something genuinely unforgettable.

"As such Manchester City's position remains consistent with the club's statement of February 2023.

"The club has diligently respected due process for eight years on the basis that the Premier League board and executive would behave as an independent, impartial and fair-minded regulator, free from partisan influence."
