“Absolutely excellent” Sam Matterface hails Arsenal hero
David Raya once again showed why he is probably the best goalkeeper in the world as he saved a penalty that helped Arsenal win their match against Sunderland at the weekend.
It was a difficult game, and the Black Cats were controversially awarded a penalty to open the scoring, but Raya was on hand to save it. Arsenal then opened the scoring almost immediately afterwards.
The Gunners scored another goal late on to win the match 2-0, and Raya was singled out for praise again after proving to be such a difference-maker, as he has done many times for the club.
His performance showed why nobody is close to taking his place as the first choice at the Emirates. Sam Matterface is very impressed with the way the Spaniard has performed over time after watching him deliver another fantastic display.
Raya Makes the Difference
The penalty save came at an important moment in the match and prevented Sunderland from taking the lead. Raya’s intervention allowed Arsenal to maintain their composure and eventually secure all three points.
The goalkeeper has become a key player for the Gunners, and his latest performance provided another example of the impact he can have when his team needs him most.
His consistency has also strengthened his position as Arsenal’s first choice, with his latest display making it difficult to argue against his importance to the team.
Matterface Praises Arsenal Star
Matterface was full of praise for Raya after his performance and highlighted both of the goalkeeper’s key saves during the match.
He said via Talk Sport:
“David Raya, penalty save was absolutely sensational.
“Also made another save from [Nordi] Mukiele really late in the game. Absolutely superb.
“He’s just absolutely excellent and Arsenal really have progressed because he is the goalkeeper.
“He’s added so much to them, he was terrific.”
Raya’s penalty save and late intervention against Mukiele helped Arsenal secure a clean sheet and another important victory. His performance once again underlined the value he brings to the Gunners and why he remains firmly established as their first-choice goalkeeper.
