What Julian Alvarez has privately said to Cristian Romero as Arsenal eye move for both players

What Julian Alvarez has privately said to Cristian Romero as Arsenal eye move for both players

Arsenal already have many Brazilians in their squad, and they could now add two Argentinians to the mix.

Julian Alvarez has been a dream signing for the Gunners for a long time now, while Mikel Arteta has suddenly made Tottenham captain Cristian Romero a target.

Arsenal fans aren’t too keen on Romero, but they would absolutely love to sign Alvarez from Atletico Madrid in the coming weeks.

But if the two players’ friendship could bring them both to the Emirates, we’re sure not many people will complain.

Arsenal aren’t the only club interested in signing Cristian Romero this summer.

The team leading the race for his signature is actually Atletico Madrid, who have been interested in him for well over a year now.

Reports in Spain have now revealed that Romero personally called his international teammate, Julian Alvarez, to ask about the Rojiblancos.

An insight was given to his compatriot, but Alvarez made it clear that he wasn’t sticking around.

That’s according to Fernando Czyz, who said as per Albiceleste Talk: “Cuti Romero spoke with Julian Alvarez about a potential move to Atlético de Madrid and asked him about the club.

“Julian gave him some insight, but also made it clear that he himself won’t be there next season.”

That should give Arsenal a lot of hope as they enter the final few weeks of the summer transfer window.

Alvarez is still keen on a move to Barcelona, but Atletico have made it clear that they will not be selling their star player to a direct rival.

That just leaves Arsenal in the race, so if Alvarez has made up his mind that he is leaving, the Emirates Stadium could well be his next destination.

If signing Romero from Tottenham would help convince Alvarez, so be it.
