Aston Villa vs Arsenal: Who is the referee? Premier League match officials confirmed

Arsenal visit Aston Villa on Sunday night at Villa Park in what is certain to be a feisty encounter.
The Gunners and the Villans have developed something of a rivalry in recent years, with relations being severed by Unai Emery and Emi Martinez's presence in the West Midlands. Intense discourse between the two sets of supporters around the Villa boss and the calibre of manager he is, combined with Martinez's pantomime antics, have certainly created tension.
Ezri Konsa's recent arrival in North London will certainly add to this animosity when Arsenal head to Villa Park on Monday night. The defender could make his debut in red and white against his former club, and he may well receive a hostile reception from the home faithful.
The clash has the potential to boil over if not well monitored by the officials, with neutrals likely licking their lips about the prospect of a box office event under the lights.
With that said, here’s a look at the Premier League’s pick for the match officials for Aston Villa vs Arsenal.
The Premier League have announced that Jarred Gillet will be the referee in charge of Arsenal's match against Aston Villa.
Gillet officiated three of the Gunners' league matches last season, most recently overseeing their 3-0 victory of Fulham at the Emirates in May. He also oversaw Mikel Arteta's side's 2-1 victory over Newcastle United at St. James' Park last September, a game in which he controversially overturned a penalty call on Viktor Gyokers after being told to go to the monitor by VAR.
The other Arsenal match he refereed last season was their 5-0 home victory over Leeds United in August, in which he did award the Gunners a spot-kick.
Gillet has been a Premier League referee since 2021 after spending his early career in Australia before moving to English football in 2019. He's officiated 12 Arsenal games in his time.
Across these matches, he’s handed the Gunners 15 yellow cards, no red cards and three penalties.
As for Villa, Gillet has officiated 14 of the West Midlands side's games, giving them 23 yellow cards, one red card, and no penalties in the process.
Alongside Gillet as the referee will be his assistants, Neil Davies, Steve Meredith and Sam Barrot, with the former two running the line and the latter the fourth official.
In the VAR room at Stockley Park, James Bell will oversee the game, with Nick Hopton assisting him.
