Rio Ferdinand says Arsenal are “the only team with stability” this season

Can Arsenal win the Premier League title in back-to-back seasons? That is one question fans and neutrals are asking as we begin the 2026/2027 campaign.

The men at the Emirates finally won their first league title in two decades, and they now have an opportunity to play with greater confidence and swagger, which could lead to more success.

This summer, Arsenal have focused on signing quality over quantity and could find themselves in an even stronger position as the campaign progresses. Their squad has been strengthened with the aim of competing at the highest level throughout the season.

Arsenal have also been smart to stick with the same manager for so long, and this could be their opportunity to dominate the Premier League and win major honours in back-to-back seasons. Their stability could prove particularly valuable while other teams continue to make changes.

Arsenal Have Stability

The Gunners can make it happen over the next few months, and Rio Ferdinand does not see another team capable of stopping them because of their stability. Arsenal have the benefit of continuity, while many of their rivals are adapting to new circumstances.

Their opening performance against Coventry City also encouraged. Arsenal looked organised and difficult to break down, showing the qualities expected from a team that has already won the league.

Ferdinand believes those qualities could make Arsenal extremely difficult to challenge this season. He said via Goal:

“It was what I expected from Arsenal (against Coventry).

“Solid, hard to play against, shut down the opposition and then fed on some mistakes and punished them. They played like champions. I don’t see anyone being able to challenge Arsenal this season. They’re the only team with stability. Everyone else has had big changes.”

Ferdinand Backs Arsenal

Ferdinand’s comments underline how much Arsenal’s continuity could benefit them during the campaign. Mikel Arteta has remained in charge, while the club have strengthened their squad without completely changing the team’s structure.

The challenge will be maintaining that level throughout the season. Arsenal will face stronger opposition as the campaign progresses, but their stability gives them a strong foundation.

If they can continue playing with the confidence and discipline that helped them win the title last season, Arsenal have a genuine opportunity to retain their crown. Their rivals may eventually find ways to challenge them, but Ferdinand believes the Gunners currently stand apart.
