What Arsenal recently told Club Brugge about Christos Tzolis after signing him

Christos Tzolis has made a fine impression since joining Arsenal.

The Gunners signed the Greek international from Club Brugge in the summer to replace Leandro Trossard, who was sold to Besiktas in Turkey.

Not many people here in England had really heard about Tzolis, despite his previous spell at Norwich City a few years ago.

However, everyone knows who he is now after his impressive start to life as a Gunner.

Christos Tzolis’ time in England with Norwich City was an underwhelming one.

The left winger scored three goals in 30 games for the Canaries before he left for Fortuna Dusseldorf in the German second division. There, Tzolis scored 24 goals and provided 10 assists in 37 games.

Club Brugge snapped him up in 2024, and in two years in Belgium, Tzolis became a star, directly contributing to 88 goals in 108 games.

That convinced Arsenal to sign him this summer, and it looks like the decision-makers of the club are beyond delighted with what they have seen so far.

Club Brugge’s president Bart Verhaeghe has now revealed that Arsenal officials raved about Tzolis during a conversation with him recently.

He told HBVL: “At the Champions League draw, I saw the Arsenal people, and they showed a tremendous amount of respect.

“‘What a player you’ve delivered,’ they told me. ‘Excellent attitude, the best in the physical tests, and a great guy, too.'”

Christos Tzolis has already faced a harsh reality check at Arsenal

Tzolis hit the ground running at Arsenal.

It’s never easy for a player playing in Belgium to come to the best team in England and make an immediate impact, but the Greek international did.

Tzolis topped the fitness tests in pre-season before impressing in the games against Manchester City and Coventry.

However, against Aston Villa, he had a poor first half and was subbed off at half-time. That would’ve been a harsh reality check.

Thankfully, that didn’t bring Tzolis down, as he was brilliant against Chelsea and Napoli in the following games.
