Why Pat Nevin’s Arsenal ‘dynasty’ comments are bang on after beating Manchester City

Arsenal’s 26/27 campaign got off to a fine start as they dispatched Manchester City ease in the Community Shield.
The Gunners produced the almost perfect performance while City, under new boss Enzo Maresca, looked miles off their best.
For Arsenal, it feels like the time is now for them when it comes to winning a number of titles.
Indeed, Pat Nevin commented on Arsenal’s upcoming season and suggested an Arsenal dynasty could be forthcoming.

Pat Nevin’s Arsenal prediction
Speaking after watching Arsenal demolish City, Nevin predicted that success will continue on for the Gunners.
“You can say Arsenal are favourites for the Premier League,” Nevin commented for the BBC.
“Liverpool could come back and be very, very strong. Manchester City, don’t write them off at all because of one game here and they were stronger last year and I think there’s more to be added.
“But I’m looking at Arsenal and this isn’t six months of build, it’s six years of build, and they build every year and it’s better now than it was last year.
“Arsenal fans have waited a long time and it’s been nearly so many times in the past and you just wondered if that team could become a winning dynasty. Well, they’ve got it.
“I’m not saying they’re going to do it, but they’re capable of it. I think they’re going to add a little bit more between now and the transfer window closing, but that team out there looked comfortable with themselves.”
Arsenal have the chance to become one of the best English teams ever
Manchester City have been so dominant under Pep Guardiola that it’s been almost impossible for another English club to get near them.
However, you feel the tide is turning for Arsenal in that sense now.
Mikel ArtetaAs Nevin says, we are seeing the results of years of transfer windows and squad strengthening, coupled with committing to a club ethos and style of play under Mikel Arteta.
All those elements rolled into one mean that the Gunners are positioned nicely to dominate. Crucially, with Guardiola gone, it feels like City themselves will need time to rebuild as well.
Arsenal have a genuine chance to win three, four, or maybe even five Premier League titles in the coming years, that’s how far ahead of the rest they are.
For Arsenal fans right now, it’s as exciting a time as most can remember in following the club.
