Arsenal battle Premier League rival for award-winning England youngster

Arsenal battle Premier League rival for award-winning England youngster

Arsenal are interested in signing highly-rated Leicester City midfielder Louis Page, but Manchester United are currently leading the race for the teenager.

The 18-year-old has emerged as one of the most sought-after young English players after breaking into Leicester’s senior team during the 2025/26 campaign.

Manchester United have already started exploring a deal with Leicester over a potential transfer, according to The Athletic, placing them ahead of Arsenal and Aston Villa in the competition for his signature.

The report also suggested that Page would be keen on a move to Old Trafford, giving United another potential advantage as negotiations continue.

Arsenal’s interest nevertheless underlines the club’s continued efforts to recruit some of the best emerging domestic talent alongside strengthening Mikel Arteta’s first-team squad.

Page came through Leicester’s academy and signed his first professional contract with the Foxes in September 2025 after establishing himself as one of the club’s brightest prospects.

The midfielder subsequently made his breakthrough at senior level and recorded 18 Championship appearances last season, earning the EFL Championship Apprentice of the Season award for his performances.

Capable of operating in several midfield positions, Page has particularly impressed as a box-to-box midfielder with his ability to carry possession and contribute on both sides of the ball.

He has also represented England at several youth levels, including Under-20 level, further strengthening his reputation among Premier League scouts.

Arsenal have increasingly targeted young players who can initially develop around the senior squad before potentially establishing themselves as first-team options.

However, they have already experienced disappointment in the market for Leicester’s academy talent this summer.

Jeremy Monga left Leicester for Manchester City last month in a deal reportedly worth £12.5 million despite Arsenal having also hoped to recruit the highly-rated winger.

Page could now become another difficult battle, with Manchester United moving more aggressively to secure an agreement.

There is no indication yet that Arsenal are prepared to withdraw their interest, meaning the situation could develop before the transfer window closes.

For now, however, United appear to have established themselves as favourites.

Arsenal therefore face a decision over whether to step up their pursuit or risk seeing another highly regarded Leicester academy graduate join a Premier League rival.
