“Zero per cent” Explosive Atletico Madrid statement gives Arsenal Alvarez hope

Atletico Madrid have refused to open the door to Barcelona signing Julian Alvarez, in what is considered a boost for Arsenal, the other club interested in a move for him.

The Gunners have been in the race over the last few weeks as they look to ensure they sign him if selling him abroad becomes the only option for Atletico Madrid. The Spanish side could now avoid a saga after the weekend’s show of shame, as Alvarez insists he wants to leave the club and that Barcelona is his dream team.

Atletico Madrid reject Barcelona approach

Alvarez knows it will be difficult for him to move to the Spanish club, and the attacker would love that opportunity, but he could change his stance with just a few days left for him to leave Atletico.

The Spanish side have now released a bombshell statement, insisting there is no chance that Alvarez will be sold directly to Barcelona this summer. Their rivals are not a team they want to do business with, and they will not change their stance simply because that is what Alvarez wants this summer.

This position could represent a significant boost for Arsenal, who remain interested in the attacker. With Atletico unwilling to negotiate directly with Barcelona, the Gunners could potentially have a clearer route to securing his signature if he ultimately decides to leave Spain.

Atletico Madrid stress their position

As quoted by the Daily Mail, Atletico have strongly defended their position and criticised the way the situation surrounding Alvarez has developed. The club insists it has suffered both financially and socially from the controversy.

‘The player is being portrayed as a victim, but the only victim of the Julian case is us.

‘They have harmed us economically and socially. There is a zero per cent chance of selling him to Barca.

‘This situation is not about money, it’s about dignity. There is a campaign with many lies and half-truths that has been created.

‘The only one who pays for this is Atletico.’

With Atletico making their position clear, Barcelona’s hopes of signing Alvarez appear to have suffered a major setback. Arsenal could benefit if the forward’s desire to leave remains unchanged, although his stance could still change before the transfer window closes.
