Report – Jaden Maghoma and Daniel McCarron make debuts as Arsenal U18s draw with West Brom in opening game

Arsenal U18s drew 0-0 away to West Bromwich Albion today in their opening game of the league season.

New arrival Daniel McCarron made his competitive debut for the club in defence, while Jack Talbot was preferred to Remi Lupinski in goal and Elyon Mbala started at left-back.

First year scholar Jayden Oba had been in line to make his competitive U18s debut but was a late withdrawal, with Maalik Hashi replacing him in the starting lineup.

Following a goalless first half, Arsenal made a couple of alterations on the hour mark as first year scholars Hakeem Abubakar and Theo Odaji-Ukueku entered the fray.

They were later joined by Joshua Sesay and Jaden Maghoma, with the latter, who is technically an U16 player, making his competitive debut for the U18s.

Arsenal weren’t able to break the deadlock and had to settle for a point from their first game. The young Gunners are at home to Ipswich Town next weekend.
