Sophie Harwood joins Sheffield United on loan

Arsenal full-back Sophie Harwood has joined WSL2 side Sheffield United on loan for the 2026-27 season. Harwood signed her first professional contract with Arsenal in January 2026 and went on to make her first team debut in a 5-0 win over West Ham at Emirates Stadium in March 2026 where she came on as a striker.

Harwood and Sophie Gale (Newcastle) will continue their development on loan in the WSL2, while Laila Harbert (San Diego Wave) and Vivienne Lia (Frankfurt) have made permanent moves overseas this summer.

In the goalkeeper department, we are expecting Amy Liddiard and Isa Damm to train with the first team but both players to play for the U21s. We expect Maddy Earl to leave before the transfer deadline too. We understand Arsenal will conclude their pre-season programme with a BCD friendly against WSL side Everton this weekend.
