Forget Julian Alvarez, another forward has been banished from training after Arsenal eye move
Arsenal seem to be involved in more than one transfer saga in the final days of the summer transfer window.
The Julian Alvarez news has dominated the headlines in recent days, with Atletico Madrid releasing official statements confirming that he will not be sold to Barcelona.
Since then, the Argentine has missed training sessions, and Arsenal are hoping they can convince him to make the switch to the Emirates Stadium.
Alvarez, however, isn’t the only Arsenal target who isn’t training with his club right now.
Arsenal target Matias Fernandez-Pardo banished from Lille training
Arsenal have been linked with a move to sign Matias Fernandez-Pardo from Lille in recent days.
The Gunners need a new left-winger much more than a striker following Leandro Trossard’s exit and Gabriel Martinelli’s imminent departure.
After failing to sign Morgan Rogers and Vinicius Jr, the focus has fully been on Alvarez, but Fernandez-Pardo is on the list as well.
Lille are desperate to keep him, but the player wants to leave – he even refused to come on as a substitute against Everton in pre-season for that reason.
So, Lille manager Davide Ancelotti has decided to leave him out of training sessions until the transfer window shuts on Tuesday.
The Italian said, as per GFFN: “I have decided, in consultation with the club, that he will no longer train with the squad until the end of the transfer window.
“I am focusing on the players who are available for tomorrow’s match (against PSG) and who are training with us.”
Matias Fernandez-Pardo would be an interesting option for Arsenal
Arsenal need a new left-winger to compete with Christos Tzolis, and Fernandez-Pardo makes a lot of sense.
Yes, he is nowhere near the level of Vinicius or Rogers, but the 21-year-old has incredible potential and could develop into a star in a few years.
Fernandez-Pardo’s versatility is an added bonus for Arsenal. He can play in all three forward positions and even as an attacking midfielder if required.
That checks a lot of boxes for Arsenal, and if they cannot get anyone else in before Tuesday, a move for the Lille star would not be a bad idea.
