Bruno Guimaraes has already called Arsenal teammate a ‘top player’ after making his debut vs Como

Bruno Guimaraes made his Arsenal debut on Wednesday night.

The Brazilian came on at half-time in the 1-1 pre-season draw against Como at the Emirates.

He played the entire second half before scoring a penalty as Arsenal beat Cesc Fabregas’ side in a shootout after the 90 minutes.

After just three training sessions at the club, he already looked at home. Always looking forward, always seeking to progress the ball, winning both tackles he attempted.

Arsenal fans liked what they saw.

Myles Lewis-Skelly scored Arsenal’s goal on the night, which he celebrated by joining his hands towards the fans and gesturing a heart to every stand in the ground.

He posted on Instagram after the game, a photo of himself celebrating and tapping the badge, along with a ‘hearts hand’ emoji.

Guimaraes was straight into the comments with a fitting two-word verdict: “Top player” accompanied with a fire emoji.

Bruno Guimaraes and Myles Lewis-Skelly could form an excellent partnership

There has, of course, been a lot of noise about Lewis-Skelly’s future this week.

Reports came out claiming that the 19-year-old had been offered to Chelsea and Manchester United, and that Arsenal might find it hard to say no to a good offer.

The Athletic have since shut that down, but the speculation still has some fans feeling unsettled.

Now Guimaraes, Arsenal’s marquee signing this summer, has already called Lewis-Skelly a top player, despite only sharing the pitch together for 15 minutes.

We know how Declan Rice and Guimaraes will likely form an incredible midfield partnership, but we mustn’t disregard Lewis-Skelly’s standing.

This is a kid who started in a Champions League final for Arsenal just three months ago, and with Rice only just reporting for pre-season, he has an opportunity to stamp his place in the team.

Mikel Arteta now has the luxury of having midfield depth akin to what Pep Guardiola so often had with Manchester City.

The ability to rotate these guys not only keeps them fresher, but also adds a level of unpredictability to their game, making it more difficult for opposition teams to prepare for.
