Carabao Cup draw: Arsenal travel to Ipswich
Arsenal have been drawn to face Ipswich Town in the third round of the Carabao Cup, giving the Gunners another opportunity to compete for a trophy this season. They have not enjoyed as much success in the competition as they would have wanted, but they reached the final last season.
Manchester City beat Arsenal in that final, but the Gunners enjoyed a good run to that stage of the competition. Their supporters will hope they can repeat that performance this season and go one step further by winning the trophy.
Arsenal Handed Ipswich Test
Their next opponent will be Premier League newcomers Ipswich Town, and Talk Sport reports that Arsenal will travel to Portman Road for the tie. The match will give the Gunners another competitive fixture as they continue their pursuit of silverware.
It is one of several all-Premier League ties in the competition. Liverpool will face Tottenham Hotspur, while Manchester United will host Brighton, with several other interesting fixtures also included in the draw.
The report says the games will be played during the weeks commencing September 7 and September 14. This could allow Arsenal to rest some of their key players during a busy period of the season.
Gunners Target Carabao Cup Success
However, Arsenal want to win the competition, so it would not be a surprise if the Gunners select a strong team for their visit to Ipswich. Their previous run to the final showed they can compete seriously for the trophy, and they will want to build on that effort.

Arsenal will therefore begin their Carabao Cup campaign away from home, with Ipswich providing the opposition. The Gunners will be expected to approach the match seriously as they look to improve on last season’s run and finally secure the trophy.
