Arsenal eye ‘world-class’ defender as fans will now fear the worst for William Saliba
Arsenal have one of the best defences in Europe already and after adding Ezri Konsa before the deadline they are well set for the season.
Mikel Arteta’s entire ethos is about being solid as a team and over the years, he’s built a squad who all buy in and crucially, have cover in all positions.
Konsa’s arrival and keeping hold of Ben White means the Gunners are well stocked.
However, there is a big worry over William Saliba and now, Arsenal are said to be targeting yet another expensive defensive capture.
Arsenal eye Willian Pacho after previous £50m interest
Arsenal have always had their eye on the best defenders in Europe’s top leagues and it seems their attention has now turned back to PSG star, Willian Pacho.
Pacho has long been a target for Premier League clubs and reports now suggest that Arsenal are back in the mix to sign him.
The Ecuadorian defender is another left-footed option and having been available previously for around the £50m mark, is within the price range Arsenal can afford.
However, Pacho has also started the last two games for PSG. Luis Enrique clearly values his man, meaning any move would likely require plenty of sign off between the two clubs.
Of course, Arsenal fans are likely to fear the worst over William Saliba if a deal for Pacho is pursued.
The Frenchman is currently out with a back injury and while it has been played down, he hasn’t appeared this season yet.
That has sparked fears among many Gunners supporters that Saliba’s problem may well be a bad one.
Indeed, seeing Arsenal target yet another central defender only adds to those fears.
