Newcastle have submitted £38.5m offer to sign 21yo Arsenal target

Newcastle United have made a formal offer to sign Lille forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo, according to L’Equipe journalist Loic Tanzi.

The 21-year-old had a solid 2025/26 season with the Ligue 1 outfit, scoring eight goals and providing seven assists in 41 appearances.

The Belgian is now eager to pursue a bigger challenge away from Les Dogues, and Arsenal are said to be monitoring him ‘very closely‘.

The Gunners have placed him on their ‘attacking shortlist’, but they are not alone in the race.

Atletico Madrid and Sporting CP have already failed with £34 million and £29 million bids respectively for Fernandez-Pardo this month.

Newcastle have now made an offer worth £38.5m including add-ons for the versatile ace, as per Tanzi.

Lille likely to snub Newcastle bid for Fernandez-Pardo

The Belgium international can play on the left wing or up front. He was more successful as a number nine last term, making 11 goal contributions in 16 appearances.

His versatility is an obvious reason behind the transfer interest from multiple teams. Fernandez-Pardo has also impressed with his pace and ability to get behind defences.

Newcastle have become the latest club to make a formal proposal, but Lille are unlikely to accept the £38.5m offer, given they have set a non-negotiable price tag of £60m.

Arsenal are yet to make a formal approach of their own for Fernandez-Pardo, but there could be an offer once Gabriel Martinelli makes the switch to Saudi giants Al-Hilal.

Al-Hilal are in advanced negotiations with the Gunners for the Brazil international, and a package between £50-55m is highly likely to be finalised in the near future.

Fernandez-Pardo’s ability to operate on the left wing could be behind the Gunners’ pursuit, and it remains to be seen whether the club test Lille’s resolve with a transfer bid.
