Tim Sherwood expects Arsenal to now play with Swagger and not pressure

Tim Sherwood believes winning the Premier League title has given Arsenal a significant boost in confidence, allowing them to play with less pressure and greater swagger.
The Gunners were finally crowned kings of England after a 22-year drought, having come close to achieving the feat over several seasons before securing the title.
Arsenal Have Gained Belief
The men at the Emirates have done their best to maintain a superb standard since the 2022/2023 season, finishing at least second in each of those campaigns.
When Liverpool won the title in the summer of 2025, Arsenal were mocked by their rivals after Arne Slot achieved the feat in his first season at the club.
The Gunners then pushed on and finally won the title ahead of Manchester City last term, and they will now look to retain the crown by the end of this term.
Sherwood believes that securing the league title has changed the mentality within the Arsenal squad, giving the players greater belief after years of falling short when competing for the biggest prize.
Speaking about their prospects, Sherwood said via the Metro:
‘I think Arsenal are still the team to beat.
‘What was missing over the last three years was them to actually get over the line and win it and have that swagger of knowing they’ve done it and not that pressure.’
Arsenal Can Challenge Again
The confidence gained from finally winning the Premier League could prove important as Arsenal attempt to defend their title. Having experienced the feeling of getting over the line, the players can now approach another title challenge with greater belief.
There is also the expectation that comes with being champions, but Sherwood’s comments suggest that Arsenal can use their success to handle that pressure more effectively. Their previous campaigns have shown that they can consistently compete at the highest level.
This Arsenal team is one of the best they have assembled, and they genuinely could make it happen again by winning the league. Retaining the Premier League title would further underline the progress they have made and demonstrate that their previous success was not a one-off achievement.
For now, Arsenal remain in a strong position to challenge for another title, with their newfound confidence potentially giving them the swagger Sherwood believes was missing during the previous three years.
