There's just no way Mikel Arteta will sign Victor Osimhen for Arsenal after what he did at AFCON this year

There's just no way Mikel Arteta will sign Victor Osimhen for Arsenal after what he did at AFCON this year

Arsenal have been linked with a move to sign Victor Osimhen this summer.

Andrea Berta wants to sign at least one more attacker before the window shuts, and he is using his connections across Europe to find potential targets.

Reports have claimed that Osimhen has emerged as an option for Arsenal in this window, and he definitely possesses the skills to be the elite striker the Gunners need.

However, we don’t think Mikel Arteta will approve this signing.

Victor Osimhen is one of the best strikers in the world on his day.

The Galatasaray star is fast, physical, good in the air and is an incredible finisher. Those are all the traits you would want from a striker.

However, Osimhen wears his heart on his sleeve too, and sometimes, his emotions get the better of him on and off the pitch.

That happened in the Africa Cup of Nations earlier this year.

During a game between Nigeria and Mozambique, after Osimhen had already scored twice, Ademola Lookman failed to pass the ball to the striker when he was in a better position.

The former Napoli man lost it.

Videos show Osimhen having a furious go at Lookman in the aftermath of that move, and the two players had to be separated.

Then, a few minutes later, Osimhen requested his coach, Eric Chelle, to take him off the pitch. ESPN reported that he ‘sat morose on the bench, then skipped the team’s post-match huddle on the pitch, walking directly to the dressing room alone at the final whistle’.

The striker even skipped mandatory media duties and was the first to board the team bus.

Arteta has built an amazing culture at Arsenal where togetherness and mutual respect within the squad come above everything.

The last thing the Arsenal manager will ever do is disrupt that by signing a player who reacted the way Osimhen did in a game that his side won 4-0.

We think there’s just no way Arteta will approve Osimhen as a signing in this window, even though he has the ability to make a serious difference on the pitch.
