£34m Arsenal star now expected to miss up to three weeks after hamstring injury

Arsenal winger Christos Tzolis is expected to miss up to three weeks after sustaining a hamstring injury while on Nations League duty with Greece.

The 24-year-old joined the Gunners from Club Brugge for £34 million this summer, and he has already registered four assists across all competitions.

Tzolis has also impressed during the international break with a goal, but he had a forgettable experience on Thursday against the Netherlands in the Nations League.

The left-sided winger sustained an unfortunate hamstring injury and was eventually substituted in the 18th minute.

Greek Journalist Dimitris Manakos has now revealed that Tzolis is expected to be sidelined for two to three weeks.

The Greek medical staff made the assessment, and the winger will now return to Arsenal for further examination.

Arsenal handed another big blow ahead of season restart

The Gunners have had a testing international break. Kai Havertz picked up a hamstring injury late last month and has already returned to the club for medical assessment.

Tzolis has joined the German in the treatment room, and manager Mikel Arteta now faces a selection headache ahead of the season restart against Leeds United on October 10.

The Greek has started every league game on the left wing this campaign, while Eberechi Eze has got the nod in the Champions League and Carabao Cup matches.

Arteta previously said that Eze is ‘very comfortable‘ playing as a left-sided winger, and the Englishman looks the likely replacement for Tzolis for the next few weeks.

Eze will feel he has a point to prove to the manager. He has been a regular league substitute and has a big opportunity to establish himself with goal contributions.

Noni Madueke is another candidate who could slot into the position. He is not a natural on the left wing of the attack but played there during his time at Chelsea.
